Commands Pt. 1

There are many commands you can teach your dogs. Here are some of the most common and useful ones:

  • Sit: This is a basic command that teaches your dog to sit down on command.

  • Stay: This command teaches your dog to stay in one place until released.

  • Come: This command teaches your dog to come to you on command.

  • Heel: This command teaches your dog to walk calmly and close to you on a leash.

  • Down: This command teaches your dog to lie down on command.

  • Leave it: This command teaches your dog to leave something alone, such as food or a toy.

  • Drop it: This command teaches your dog to release something from its mouth.

  • Off: This command teaches your dog to get off of something or someone.

  • Wait: This command teaches your dog to wait until it's safe to proceed, such as before crossing the street.

  • Speak: This command teaches your dog to bark on command.

Teaching your dog basic commands not only makes them easier to handle and manage, but it can also help prevent behavior problems and keep your dog safe. It's important to be patient and consistent when teaching your dog, and to use positive reinforcement methods such as treats and praise.
